About DCSS
The purpose of the Douglas County Senior Services, Inc. Board, as defined in the mission statement is to create opportunities that allow Douglas County residents fifty-five (55) years and older to remain independent and active in their homes and community . Federally supported transportation, outreach, information and assistance and meals programs are provided for individuals sixty (60) and older.
The meetings of the DCSS shall be governed by the Kansas Open Meetings Act.
This board is a joint City/County Board with appointments made by both entities. A recommendation of the Retiree Attraction and Retention Task Force was creation of a central repository to provide a single source of information about local services, programs, events and activities. This board will oversee the work of the Executive Director and staff of Douglas County Senior Services, Inc., in accomplishing its mission, including implementation of recommendations of the Retiree Attraction and Retention Task Force.
